Natural & Organic

In intimate care, the word natural is not regulated and does not guarantee anything on its own. What you can check is the list of ingredients, and that is where you see the real differences between a product designed for sensitive skin and one that only seems that way. This section brings together short formulas, without added perfume and with certification when available.

What to look for on the label

Element What does it indicate Why it matters
INCI shortlist Few active ingredients Less risk of reaction
Without perfume No added fragrance Perfume is the most common irritant
Glycerin-free Sugar-free formula Preferable if there is recurrent candidiasis
Paraben free Another preservative system Regular choice for reactive skin
Indicated pH Formula acidity Between 3.8 and 4.5 for vulvar area
Ecological seal Verified certification Cosmos, Ecocert or equivalent

Certified and natural do not mean the same thing

A product can be called natural without meeting any requirements, because the term has no legal definition in cosmetics. A certification such as Cosmos Organic or Ecocert does imply a minimum percentage of ingredients of natural origin, restrictions on preservatives and an external audit.

That doesn't automatically make a certified product the best one for you, but it is verifiable information rather than a claim. If you care about this difference, look for the specific stamp on the packaging and not just the word in the headline.

Simple formula lubricants

Most lubricantes naturales are water-based with vegetable thickeners such as xanthan gum or aloe, instead of glycerin and propylene glycol. They slide well, are removed with water and are compatible with latex condoms and silicone toys.

The downside is that they last a little less and it is advisable to reactivate them with a few drops of water. If you prefer long duration, the alternative is in Silicone-Based, although they do not fall into the natural category.

Vegetable oils and their limit

Coconut, sweet almond or jojoba oils work very well for body massage and to hydrate the outer skin. Their limit is clear and should be kept in mind: they degrade latex, so they cannot be combined with condoms, and they are not the most recommended option for intravaginal use because they alter the flora more easily.

Used as what they are, a massage product, they are excellent. You have them at Massage Oils & Candles.

Intimate hygiene without aggression

The external vulvar area is washed with water and, if necessary, with an acidic pH and unscented cleanser. The vagina cleans itself and does not need internal showers or deodorants, which alter the flora and usually worsen precisely what they are trying to solve.

Less product and less frequency is usually better advice than any specific formula. If itching, a different odor or persistent discomfort appears, it is advisable to consult a health professional.

Packaging and waste

Within this category you will find glass containers, recycled plastic, refillable formats and unlaminated boxes. It is a real difference in waste, especially in frequently used products. Exclusive sale for people over 18 years of age.

What each stamp means

Natural is not regulated and can appear in any packaging. Ecological and organic they are when they are accompanied by a recognizable certification seal, which indicates a minimum percentage of ingredients of plant and controlled origin.

What you can really check is the list of ingredients, which is mandatory and is ordered from highest to lowest proportion. If the first four ingredients are recognizable and the list is short, the product fulfills what it promises even if it does not carry any seal.

Intimate hygiene without aggression

The external area is washed with water and, if necessary, with a slightly acidic and unscented pH cleanser. The internal area is not washed: it has its own balance and any product that alters it increases the risk of infections, which is exactly the opposite of what is sought.

Gels with intense fragrance, intimate deodorants and vaginal douches are the three products that cause the most problems and are the ones that are least needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does natural mean better for sensitive skin?

Not necessarily. What matters is the short list of ingredients and the absence of perfume, not the word natural on the packaging.

Can I use coconut oil as a lubricant?

It is suitable for external massage, but it degrades the latex and is not the best option for intravaginal use. With a preservative, always water-based.

What is glycerin and why is it avoided?

It is a moisturizer derived from sugars. Some people with recurrent yeast infection prefer to avoid it, although it does not affect everyone.

Are organic certificates reliable?

Seals such as Cosmos Organic or Ecocert imply external audit and specific requirements, unlike the word natural, which is not regulated.

How do you wash the intimate area?

Only the external area, with water or an unscented acid pH cleanser. Internal showers are not necessary and alter the flora.
