Sex Swings & Positioning

Sex Swings & Positioning

A columpio sexual and a position wedge solve the same problem in opposite ways: one suspends the weight and the other supports it. Before choosing, it is advisable to know what each system in your home requires, because that is where you decide if the purchase is useful.

The three suspension systems

Door swing

It is supported on the frame by means of stops that are on the other side of the leaf. It requires no work, is assembled in minutes and stored whole in a bag.

Its limits are real: it only works with solid doors that open inward and with a solid frame, never with hollow or sliding doors. The seat height is not adjustable beyond the straps and the range of motion is less. It is the right option if you rent or cannot drill.

Ceiling swing

A single anchor point bolted to a joist. It rotates 360 degrees and is height adjustable, and is the system with the longest range of the three.

The only critical part here is the anchoring. It has to go to the wood of the joist or to a chemical plug in concrete, never to the plasterboard or the false ceiling. A stud finder costs little and prevents the only serious failure possible in this category. If you have any questions about the structure, it is a job for a professional.

Self-supporting structure

A metal frame that stands on its own. It does not touch the wall or the ceiling, so it can be used in any home, and many fold up.

In return, it takes up a lot of space, is heavy and is not discreet. It is the most versatile option if storage is not a problem.

The figure that must be read in full

All swings indicate a maximum load, and almost no one interprets it correctly.

That figure is static. A moving body generates force peaks much higher than its weight, so the reasonable safety margin is to leave at least 30 percent below the declared maximum. If the set will support two people at some point, add the two weights.

Also check the weakest link, which is almost never the strap: it is the carabiners, the seams and the hook. A certified load-bearing carabiner with a screw closure is the difference between a reliable system and a decorative one.

Test before use

A step that saves scares and that almost no instructions mention. Once assembled, hang dead weight equivalent to what it will support and leave it for five minutes, checking that the anchor does not give or creak and that the straps do not slide through the buckles. Repeat the check every few uses, because the buckles loosen with movement.

Support instead of suspension

Foam wedges and ramps resolve angle and height without any installation. They are discreet, stored under the bed and do not depend on the structure of the home.

What sets them apart is the density of the foam: a soft foam sinks under the weight and no longer maintains its angle, which is exactly what it was purchased for. Look for high density and removable cover with waterproof inner lining. They are at Position Enhancers.

Comfort and fit

In a swing, the points that get tired first are the popliteal fossa and the lumbar area. The wide, padded straps distribute pressure better than a thin strap, and the independent adjustable stirrups allow you to correct your posture without getting off.

Adjust the height so that the person standing does not have to strain their back. It is the most common assembly error and the one that turns a purchase into an object that is not used.

Care and storage

Nylon straps are hand washed with mild soap and dried in the shade, because the sun degrades the synthetic fibers. Leather needs occasional conditioner. Check the seams and carabiners from time to time and remove any pieces with loose threads or visible deformation.

Always store the set dry and unfolded in the same place, so as not to leave a permanent crease in the straps.

Suspension and support, compared

The question before any purchase in this section is if the house supports anchoring. With that answer, the table resolves itself.

System Installation Regular load It is saved Ideal for
Door swing Minutes, without work 100 to 130 kg In a bag Rental
Ceiling swing Drill and anchor 150 kg or more Just the straps Frequently used
Self-supporting structure Mounting without drilling 120 to 200 kg Dismantled, occupies Who can't drill
Wedge or ramp None Support, not suspension Visible, discreet Everyday comfort
Cushion with straps None Support Under the bed Position and light support

Pure support pieces, with no connection to bondage, are at Position Enhancers.

Frequently asked questions

What maximum load should you look for?

At least double the weight to support. The movement generates dynamic load well above the static one, and this margin is what prevents anchor failure.

Can it be anchored to plasterboard?

No, in no case. Only wooden beam or chemical dowel in concrete. If the structure does not allow it, the safe alternative is the self-supporting structure.

Does the door swing leave a mark?

Padded stops prevent marks on most doors, but it is a good idea to check the frame after the first few sessions. A chipboard frame is not suitable no matter how much padding it has.

What is checked before use?

Anchoring, seams, carabiners and a load test without anyone on top. It's done every time, not just the first time, because wear appears on the seams before it does on the metal.

How is it saved?

Dry, without always folding in the same fold and away from heat sources. The permanent mark on a nylon strap is the first warning of material fatigue.
