Delay Sprays, Gels & Control Products

The products in this section seek to lengthen the duration of the encounter, and they do so in two very different ways: by temporarily reducing sensitivity or by modifying the mechanics with a physical barrier. Knowing which of the two you are buying avoids most disappointments.

Condoms | Cock Rings | Supplements & Aphrodisiacs | Lubes & Essentials

Which option for which situation

Product	How it works	Consideration
Delay spray	Reduces sensitivity	Wait and withdraw excess
Cream or gel	Same, more localized	More precise application
Wipe	Fixed dose	Practical and controlled
Delay condom	Treated interior	Barrier and effect in one
Thick condom	Less transmission	Without active ingredient
Ring	Mechanic	Twenty minute limit

How topical retardants are used

They use a mild anesthetic, usually lidocaine or benzocaine. Apply a small amount, wait the time indicated on the container and remove the excess with a wipe before contact.

That last step is the one that is most often skipped and the one that causes the most problems, because the product can be transferred to the partner and also numb their sensitivity. Removing the excess does not reduce its own effect.

Pretest and allergies

Before the first time, apply a small amount to your forearm and wait. Reactions to topical anesthetics are not common but they do exist, and it is best to discover them out of time.

They are not applied to irritated or wounded skin, nor are they combined with other active products. And if there is a known allergy to local anesthetics, this category is not appropriate.

The alternative without active ingredient

A thicker condom reduces the transmission of sensation without any pharmacological component, and is the simplest option if you prefer to avoid anesthetics. You have them at Extra Safe.

A ring can also help mechanically, always with a limit of twenty minutes of continuous use and removal at any sign of numbness.

Compatibility and limits

Check latex compatibility before combining: oil-based products should not be used with a condom. If the difficulty is persistent or causes discomfort, a medical consultation is indicated; These products do not treat any conditions. Exclusive sale for people over 18 years of age.

The two routes, in detail

The topical route reduces sensitivity for a while with a local anesthetic spray or cream. Its advantage is that it works quite predictably; Its limit is that it reduces sensitivity for everything, not just what is of interest, and that the excess must be removed before contact so as not to transfer the effect.

The mechanical route does not contain an active ingredient: a ring maintains firmness by pressure on the base and a condom with a thicker wall or one with a built-in retardant modifies the sensation without applying anything to the skin. It is the sensible option when there is reactive skin involved or when you prefer to avoid any anesthetic.

What these products don't fix

Performance anxiety cannot be solved with a spray, and in many cases it is the root cause. Stop-and-start control techniques, breathing, and an honest conversation with the other person do more than any product in this section, and the results are maintained over time.

If the problem appears suddenly, if there is pain or if it is accompanied by other symptoms, it is reasonable to consult with a health professional before trying anything. These products are a specific support, not a treatment.

How it combines with the rest

A topical retardant and a condom get along well as long as the excess is removed before putting it on, and in fact that combination is the one that transfers the least effect to the other person. What doesn't make sense is adding a retardant and a stimulating gel, because they work in opposite directions and the result is unpredictable.

With a ring, the combination does work: one acts on sensitivity and the other on firmness, and they are independent mechanisms. Even so, it is advisable to test each thing separately before putting them together, because if something bothers you there will be no way to know what it was.

What to expect in practice

A well-used topical retardant lengthens the encounter noticeably, but does not multiply it. The usual difference is counted in minutes, not in time slots, and depends quite a bit on the amount applied and the waiting time before contact.

It is also advisable to keep in mind that the effect is not linear: the first minutes after application are the ones with the greatest loss of sensitivity and from there it subsides. That is why the general recommendation is to apply little, wait the indicated time and not repeat the application in the middle of the match, which is when excesses appear.
