There is a confusion that makes many people make bad purchases in this category, and it should be clarified at the outset: a liguero does not hold self-adhesive stockings, and a Stockings con liguero is not the same as stockings with a silicone band. They are two different systems that solve the same problem in opposite ways.

The two systems

• Stockings con liguero. Stocking without adhesive band, held by four, six or eight clip-on strips that come from a belt at the waist. Firm support, without pressure on the thigh and without marking. It is the classic system and the most reliable to take hours.
• Stockings autoadhesivas. Silicone band on the upper edge that adheres to the skin. They are put on in seconds and do not require anything else, but the band must rest on clean skin without gripping cream, and on larger thighs it tends to slip over time.

The data to look at: the denier

Denier measures the thickness of the yarn and determines both transparency and strength. It is the only relevant number on the record and almost no one checks it.

Between 5 and 15 denier, the stocking is very transparent and very delicate: precious and fragile, with runs to the first poorly filed nail. Between 20 and 40 denier, there is moderate transparency and reasonable strength, which is where the balance is for real use. Above 40 denier, the stocking is opaque and durable.

If the stocking is lace or mesh, the denier is no longer applied and what matters is the size of the stitch.

How to choose the garter belt

The number of strips makes a difference. Four strips, two per leg, is the minimum and it works; six or eight distribute the tension better, keep the seam straight and prevent the stocking from falling when sitting down.

The clips should be metal with a rubber button, not entirely plastic, because the plastic opens on its own. And the belt is worn at the natural waist, not on the hip: placed low, the straps pull diagonally and the stocking rotates over the leg. The trick to not break them when putting them on

Most careers appear at the time of dressing, not while wearing them.

Roll the stocking from the top edge to the toe, forming a curl, insert your foot and slowly unroll it up the leg, without ever pulling on the edge. Do it with clean hands, without rings and with your nails checked. If you have dry skin, moisturize an hour before and not right away, because the fresh cream prevents the silicone band from gripping.

What do they combine with?

With a two-piece set, the garter belt is worn above the panties, never below, for obvious practical reasons. With a bodysuit or babydoll, from Teddies, it works just as well. Wash

By hand, cold water, neutral soap, without wringing. Press between a towel and dry horizontally. The washing machine, even on a delicate program, drastically shortens the life of a thin sock, and the fabric softener degrades the elastane.

Sizes and height

The size of a sock does not depend only on the foot. The boards combine height and weight precisely because the length of the thigh decides where the band is, and a stocking that is two fingers below the correct point will slide no matter what the silicone does.

If you are between two sizes and measure more than 1.75, go up one: the excess length is accommodated and the lack of length cannot be fixed. On thighs with a wide contour, the wide five-centimeter band provides much better support than the narrow one, because it distributes the pressure and does not leave a mark.

Can self-adhesive stockings be used with a garter belt?

Why do my self-adhesive socks fall off?

Almost always due to cream or body oil on the thigh, which cancels the adhesion. Clean, dry skin, and if they still slide, the size is too short or the band is too narrow for your contour.

What does denier mean?
